Why do all 32 of the Pro Football teams provide Chiropractic Care to their athletes?

Chiropractic Care “A True Touchdown for The NFL”
Chiropractic Care has been around since 1895, and treats the cause of the pain rather than hide the symptoms like many medications used today.

  • Some people continue to be skeptical about Chiropractic Care; however, this treatment has proven to change the lives of millions of people.
  • For example, Chiropractic Care is now a necessity for players in the NFL. All 32 Professional Football teams have chiropractors on staff and there has been a huge difference in the health of these players.
  • Jerry Rice, who is a 2010 Hall of Fame inductee, stated, “I did a lot of things to stay in the game, but regular visits to my chiropractor made all the difference.” This shows how important chiropractic care is for any individual.
  • Due to the significance of Chiropractic Care, the (PFCS) Professional Football Chiropractic Society was formed. “Our main goal is to provide consistency among constituents, as we take the best practices from each alliance and create a template to apply to chiropractors who work with other pro sports” This is a line by the PFCS that shows their commitment to provide the best services to Football players across the board.
  • It is great that many organizations are now choosing alternative approaches to improve the health and quality of life of their athletes. The point of having chiropractors on staff is to for manage and prevent injuries and has shown to be vital for optimizing athletic performance.
  • Another player who swears by Chiropractic Care is Reggie Bush. He stated that Chiropractic Care was as important to him as staying on top of his game and being healthy. Bush has been treating since high school, and continues to do so.
  • Football is a full contact sport, where many injuries occur, and that is why a Chiropractor is a necessity to have on staff. Professional Football players are mostly treated for neuromusculoskeletal strain injuries. Some examples of neuromusculoskeletal injuries include whiplash injuries, low back pain, neck pain, and hamstring and quadriceps strains. The Professional Football Chiropractic Society said that on average, the Team Chiropractor gives about thirty to fifty adjustments per week.
  • Some of the benefits of Chiropractic Care include: education on preventing injuries, decreased or elimination of pain, non-invasive and treatment without drugs, treatment of actual injury rather than taking medication to only hide the symptoms, increased strength and stamina, and improved mobility.

If Chiropractic Care has made such a positive impact on Professional Football players, imagine what it can do for you and your family!

Chiropractic Misconceptions:

Myth #1: Chiropractic Care is too Expensive
Just like vising a primary doctor or any other specialty doctor; we bill to your insurance and are in network with many insurances. Therefore, there are many cases where patients are covered completely, or are only responsible for a co-payment. If no insurance, we can work out monthly payments so that you can get on the track of feeling your best.
Myth #2: If I start Chiropractic care, I will be forced to go for the Rest of my Life
This is also a myth heard many times before. Getting chiropractic treatment is very similar to going to the gym, as it should become part of your lifestyle. After completing Phase 1 of the treatment, it is recommended to maintain a maintenance regimen. This works like an oil change for a vehicle, because it keeps your body running. Everyone’s maintenance period varies, but the recommended frequency is 2 times a month; however we do have patients that feel great coming in once a month. This is where you listen to your body, as it will know when ad adjustment is necessary. You are not forced to get treatment for the rest of your life, but once you start feeling better, you will want to maintain a frequency to prevent you from going backwards.
Myth #3: Chiropractors are not “real” doctors and they have less Schooling than Medical Doctors
A Doctor of Chiropractic completes their undergraduate then are required to have a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. This Degree takes another four years to complete. After comparing many schools, a study found that Chiropractors spend 2,419 hours to obtain their DC, while medical doctors spend 2,047 hours on education to obtain their MD. Therefore, it is proven that Doctors of Chiropractic spend more time in the classroom. After obtaining their undergraduate, the education of Chiropractic students consists of classroom work in anatomy, physiology, biology, and comparable topics. Once that is completed, students must undergo their supervised clinical experience; therefore, gaining much knowledge in the field.
Myth #4: Chiropractic Doctors Only Treat Back Pain
Even though Chiropractor’s main focus is to treat neuromusculoskeletal disorders, there is no limitation to problems with the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. In addition, the central nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves. The nerves exit thought the spine and go to every cell tissue and organ of the body. Therefore, expressing how getting a spinal adjustment will help our overall health and help heal our body.
Myth #5: Chiropractic Treatment Rarely Works
There are millions of people who incorporate chiropractic care into their lifestyle and have experienced tremendous improvement in their health. Many people forget that the spinal cord carries the nerves that control all movement in the body; therefore, an unhealthy spine will cause many problems in the body. Therefore, getting spinal adjustments will help people feel better physically and mentally.
Myth #6: Chiropractors crack your bones
I hear many people say that they are scared of getting their bones cracked. However, there is a scientific explanation for that pop noise that occurs during a spinal adjustment. The crack heard from a spinal adjustment is not from your bones cracking, it is called a cavitation. A cavitation occurs when gas is released from the synovial fluid that is present in our joints. Do not be fearful of the noise that happens while being adjusted, the long-term benefit surpasses the slight noise that occurs.
–>Based on the evidence, Chiropractic Care has been helping change lives since 1895. Chiropractic Care takes the holistic approach to heal one’s body, and does so without any harmful drugs or surgery. These spinal adjustments correct misalignments in one’s body and restore proper function to the nervous system. This also allows for one’s body to repair itself. Our bodies are capable of so much, if we give them the time to heal rather than trying to mask the symptoms and causing more inflammation on the body.
