Why do all 32 of the Pro Football teams provide Chiropractic Care to their athletes?

Chiropractic Care “A True Touchdown for The NFL”
Chiropractic Care has been around since 1895, and treats the cause of the pain rather than hide the symptoms like many medications used today.

  • Some people continue to be skeptical about Chiropractic Care; however, this treatment has proven to change the lives of millions of people.
  • For example, Chiropractic Care is now a necessity for players in the NFL. All 32 Professional Football teams have chiropractors on staff and there has been a huge difference in the health of these players.
  • Jerry Rice, who is a 2010 Hall of Fame inductee, stated, “I did a lot of things to stay in the game, but regular visits to my chiropractor made all the difference.” This shows how important chiropractic care is for any individual.
  • Due to the significance of Chiropractic Care, the (PFCS) Professional Football Chiropractic Society was formed. “Our main goal is to provide consistency among constituents, as we take the best practices from each alliance and create a template to apply to chiropractors who work with other pro sports” This is a line by the PFCS that shows their commitment to provide the best services to Football players across the board.
  • It is great that many organizations are now choosing alternative approaches to improve the health and quality of life of their athletes. The point of having chiropractors on staff is to for manage and prevent injuries and has shown to be vital for optimizing athletic performance.
  • Another player who swears by Chiropractic Care is Reggie Bush. He stated that Chiropractic Care was as important to him as staying on top of his game and being healthy. Bush has been treating since high school, and continues to do so.
  • Football is a full contact sport, where many injuries occur, and that is why a Chiropractor is a necessity to have on staff. Professional Football players are mostly treated for neuromusculoskeletal strain injuries. Some examples of neuromusculoskeletal injuries include whiplash injuries, low back pain, neck pain, and hamstring and quadriceps strains. The Professional Football Chiropractic Society said that on average, the Team Chiropractor gives about thirty to fifty adjustments per week.
  • Some of the benefits of Chiropractic Care include: education on preventing injuries, decreased or elimination of pain, non-invasive and treatment without drugs, treatment of actual injury rather than taking medication to only hide the symptoms, increased strength and stamina, and improved mobility.

If Chiropractic Care has made such a positive impact on Professional Football players, imagine what it can do for you and your family!

Chiropractic Misconceptions:

Myth #1: Chiropractic Care is too Expensive
Just like vising a primary doctor or any other specialty doctor; we bill to your insurance and are in network with many insurances. Therefore, there are many cases where patients are covered completely, or are only responsible for a co-payment. If no insurance, we can work out monthly payments so that you can get on the track of feeling your best.
Myth #2: If I start Chiropractic care, I will be forced to go for the Rest of my Life
This is also a myth heard many times before. Getting chiropractic treatment is very similar to going to the gym, as it should become part of your lifestyle. After completing Phase 1 of the treatment, it is recommended to maintain a maintenance regimen. This works like an oil change for a vehicle, because it keeps your body running. Everyone’s maintenance period varies, but the recommended frequency is 2 times a month; however we do have patients that feel great coming in once a month. This is where you listen to your body, as it will know when ad adjustment is necessary. You are not forced to get treatment for the rest of your life, but once you start feeling better, you will want to maintain a frequency to prevent you from going backwards.
Myth #3: Chiropractors are not “real” doctors and they have less Schooling than Medical Doctors
A Doctor of Chiropractic completes their undergraduate then are required to have a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. This Degree takes another four years to complete. After comparing many schools, a study found that Chiropractors spend 2,419 hours to obtain their DC, while medical doctors spend 2,047 hours on education to obtain their MD. Therefore, it is proven that Doctors of Chiropractic spend more time in the classroom. After obtaining their undergraduate, the education of Chiropractic students consists of classroom work in anatomy, physiology, biology, and comparable topics. Once that is completed, students must undergo their supervised clinical experience; therefore, gaining much knowledge in the field.
Myth #4: Chiropractic Doctors Only Treat Back Pain
Even though Chiropractor’s main focus is to treat neuromusculoskeletal disorders, there is no limitation to problems with the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. In addition, the central nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord and spinal nerves. The nerves exit thought the spine and go to every cell tissue and organ of the body. Therefore, expressing how getting a spinal adjustment will help our overall health and help heal our body.
Myth #5: Chiropractic Treatment Rarely Works
There are millions of people who incorporate chiropractic care into their lifestyle and have experienced tremendous improvement in their health. Many people forget that the spinal cord carries the nerves that control all movement in the body; therefore, an unhealthy spine will cause many problems in the body. Therefore, getting spinal adjustments will help people feel better physically and mentally.
Myth #6: Chiropractors crack your bones
I hear many people say that they are scared of getting their bones cracked. However, there is a scientific explanation for that pop noise that occurs during a spinal adjustment. The crack heard from a spinal adjustment is not from your bones cracking, it is called a cavitation. A cavitation occurs when gas is released from the synovial fluid that is present in our joints. Do not be fearful of the noise that happens while being adjusted, the long-term benefit surpasses the slight noise that occurs.
–>Based on the evidence, Chiropractic Care has been helping change lives since 1895. Chiropractic Care takes the holistic approach to heal one’s body, and does so without any harmful drugs or surgery. These spinal adjustments correct misalignments in one’s body and restore proper function to the nervous system. This also allows for one’s body to repair itself. Our bodies are capable of so much, if we give them the time to heal rather than trying to mask the symptoms and causing more inflammation on the body.

How To Get Rid of Headaches Naturally

A headache is a pain that many of us experience on a regular basis. There are many different types of headaches; some include:

  • Tension headaches:They are the most common among teens and adults and are also known as stress headaches. When experiencing tension headaches, the pain varies from mild to moderate and the pain is inconsistent.
    • How to avoid these types of headaches: limit stress and try incorporating a daily yoga and meditation routine.
  • Migraines:More than 3 million people suffer from migraine headaches per year. These types of headaches are more intense, and the discomfort is typically described as pounding or throbbing. The duration can vary from 4 hours to 3 days; however these headaches usually come back a few times throughout the month. Other symptoms felt with migraines include: appetite loss, nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light, noise, or smells. Many children also get migraines, and it has serious side effects. Some symptoms include dizziness, blurry vision, nausea, vomiting, fever, and temporary face discoloration.
    • How to avoid these types of headaches: Watch what you are eating, as many migraines are triggered by certain foods. Everyone’s body is different, which means that what triggers a migraine for one person could give another person energy, and not affect them in any negative way. Therefore, keep a log of when you are experiencing the pain and what you have eaten throughout the day.
  • Rebound headaches: Many people are unaware about these type of headaches. They are triggered by overuse of medications. Becoming aware of the side effects of medication usage is important, because many times medications cause the symptoms to become worse or they can trigger new issues within the body.
    • How to avoid these types of headaches: Only take your medication as prescribed by your medical doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dosage and do not take medication unless needed. Over the counter pain relievers help with occasional headaches. However, if taken long term or more than a few days of the week, rebound headaches can occur. Therefore, take a break from these medications if you start to experience rebound headaches.
  • Cluster headaches:The name comes from the headaches occurring in groups and last from months then go away and come back for a certain period. Luckily, these are the least common types of headaches, because when experiencing this excruciating pain, most people are unable to sit still and feel as if they are under attack. The pain varies from being consistent to throbbing, but is always very intense. The headaches usually happen during the same time, and typically occur during season changes. Therefore, get mistaken as caused by allergies. However, the cause is yet to be determined.
    • How to get rid of cluster headaches: Seek medical help, as inhaled oxygen, injected medications, and alternative medications may help.
  • Sinus headaches:Sinus headaches are caused from a buildup of pressure occurring from an allergic reaction that will create pain that feels like a headache. Along with other sinus or flu-like symptoms, the pain worsens with movement or strain.
    • How to avoid these types of headaches: Take prescribed allergy mediation and avoid any possible allergens. Once the allergic reaction decreases, the pain from the headache will as well.

There are certain steps to take for any type of headaches, as incorporating healthy habits creates a healthy lifestyle for any human being.

  1. Drink plenty of water. The recommended amount of water intake is half of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds; your recommended water intake is 75 ounces of water.
  2. DO NOT forget to get your chiropractic manipulation. You would be surprised at how much better you would feel once you start getting your adjustments. Say goodbye to your headaches!
  3. Maintain a healthy diet, and choose foods that increase wellness to avoid inflammation. Remove sugar and any artificial sweeteners!
  4. Reduce alcohol intake.
  5. Incorporate exercise, yoga, and meditation in your weekly routine.

***We have a patient named Diana who shared how her life has improved by coming into Synergy and getting her routine chiropractic adjustments! “For the past two years, I have been suffering from terrible headaches. They occur 3-4 times a month. In May of 2016, I visited Synergy Integrated Medical Center. It has been five months since I started treatment with the Doctor, and for the past two months, I have not had a headache at all. I love the way everyone in the office is involved in the patients care. They are all caring and supportive. They are a big family and right away, they make you feel that you are part of it. Thank you for all of your help!”

How can you Stay Healthy while everyone around you gets sick…

Have you ever noticed that everyone around you seems to get sick every time the season changes? It happens four times a year, and happens every year, but we are somehow still affected. Seems odd that our bodies haven’t yet adapted to the inevitable weather changes. However, the dramatic temperature changes are surprisingly not the reason why many people experience illness during the weather transition. The reason behind these sudden sicknesses is the fact that the temperature modifications allow a dissimilar array of viruses to flourish. These new viruses are what cause people to get sick. Therefore, we must take precautions to avoid getting that quarterly sickness that many people unfortunately experience.

Here is a list of the top ten things to do to stay healthy this fall:

  1. Wash your hands. This has to be the most important step if you want to avoid getting sick.
  2. Do not share. When you share beverages, food, snacks, or even personal items: you are also sharing germs and any sickness any other person may have.
  3. Clean. Kill the bacteria that is lingering, and waiting to contaminate its next victim.
  4. Sleep. Sleeping is one of the most overlooked necessities. Many studies have proven the negative side effects of not sleeping enough; therefore, make sure to go to bed early and get your recommended hours of rest daily.
  5. Maintain a healthy gut, which will happen by choosing to eat better. Did you know that 80% of your immune system is in your digestive system? Not many people do. This means that having a healthy gut is vital for any human to maintain optimal health and remain well. That is why every individual must find ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables on a DAILY basis.
  6. Increase your Vitamin C intake: That orange juice will definitely boost your immune system. However, stay away from juices that are full of sugar, as it limits the nutritional value consumed. Make sure to read the labels on your favorite orange drinks! Here are some other tasty foods that contain high amounts of Vitamin C: oranges, grapefruits, lemon, limes, strawberries, papaya, kiwis, bell peppers, guava, Brussel sprouts, cantaloupe, dark leafy greens, and tomatoes. Enjoy!
  7. Wash sheets if a sick person has been laying on them. Not washing used sheets is a quick way to catch that cold you have been avoiding.
  8. Inhale nature. This means getting some fresh air, and if you do not want to go outside and smell the roses: open a window and let the fresh air in.
  9. Work it out: Exercising can boost your immune system and help you sweat the sickness out of your system. Moderate exercise helps you not only feel better physically but mentally, which plays a very important role in feeling better as your mind affects your whole body. The only time where exercise should be avoided is when a fever is present.
  10. Most importantly: Do not forget to visit your chiropractor. Many people are unaware of how important coming in to get your spinal adjustment is. I often hear patients attempting to cancel their appointments because of waking up with a cold; however, I cannot express how important your adjustment is at this time. Getting an adjustment will boost your immune system, and will start the process of feeling better!
